The Energy Debate Project
The energy debate project was to learn about nuclear energy and energy itself. We looked at many moments in history that include energy such as the atomic bomb in WWII, nuclear disaster in Fukishima, Chernobyl, and Three Mile Island, we also had to research different types of energy. Kinetic, thermal, solar, radioactive, etc, and from energy we also had to review the atom itself. Once we had the knowledge of energy, we had debates about which energy is right for the world, what we would do with the bad energy, how much and what other kind of energy does this world need. Questions we answered
- Nuclear energy is a better alternative to fossil fuels?
- Nuclear waste can be disposed of efficiently and safely?
- Nuclear energy is a better alternative to hydropower, solar, and wind energy?
- Nuclear energy is truly capable of powering our world indefinitely?
- Accidents that can happen at nuclear energy plants are acceptable risks?
CREW Document
The CREW Document is where we had to answer our debate questions. Whatever our debate questions were, we were assigned to answer them by researching have facts, statistics, information of the question. There were pros and cons to each question there were. We needed to have 3 reasons, followed by 3 evidence summaries including links to our resources and have 1 claim at the end. To see our CREW Document, clink the title above.
Reflection
What I learned in this project was the risk we're taking in this world for energy, this world needs so much of energy, it's a day to day thing, but retrieving the energy is dangerous, expensive, even sometimes deadly. What I'm most proud of is my crew document, I put much effort into for my debate, I studied, and in the end, I was not able to use it. The most challenging part if this project was the debate because since my questions weren't answered and I did not have the info on me, I needed to use my own knowledge and memory in the debate. For this project the only thing I would change is to give us more time to research, write, study, it was a very short amount of time. But overall, I did great.
